USY National Convention

This Convention, March 11th-15th, is open to all Canadian Jewish teens in Grades 8-12.

The first night will be an overnight Shabbat experience at Beth Tzedec Congregation in Toronto. The next three nights will be at the Park Inn hotel in Markham. We will explore Toronto’s sights and Jewish history, volunteer in the community, and experience other exciting outings. The final day will include leadership training and activities that will be invaluable for our local chapter members.

Laura Dimitroff, our Youth Engagement Professional, will be leading the JACCUSY delegation. Here are the VIA trains she’ll be on:

Friday, March 11th:

Depart at 8:46am from Fallowfield Station

Arrive to Union Station at 12:48pm

Tuesday, March 15th:

Depart at 3:32pm from Union Station

Arrive to Fallowfield Station at 7:50pm

Parents are required to book their own children’s train tickets – please take a photo of all tickets/legs and email them to laura@kehillatbethisrael.com. USY is working out volunteer drivers (screened) for transfers between Union Station and the venues now.

Laura’s cell phone is 613-712-5904. She can be reached by phone, WhatsApp, or text before and during the Convention. Laura will create a WhatsApp group chat for parents and update it with photos/videos in real time.

The early bird price for the convention is $399 CAD, and the deadline is being extended. Regular price is $425 CAD. Transportation is not included in these prices. In the event of convention cancellation due to COVID restrictions, or for “good cause”, the USY fee is fully refundable any time before convention. VIA rail cancellations may incur a fee, but they have been lenient recently.

Participants will be required to take two rapid antigen COVID tests, one the night before, and one on the morning of convention. Both must be negative to attend. There will be a doctor and a mental health professional on call during convention.

Register now at ecrusy.org/canadausy! You need only pay the deposit at this time. If you’re interested in financial/scholarship options, contact Cantor Green at cantor@kehillatbethisrael.com. We’re excited to make Convention accessible to all our youth.

Hope you’ll join us for this exciting first for Canada USY!
