KBI Kadima (Grades 6-8) & KBI USY (Grades 9-12)

KBI Kadimanicks and KBI USYers also have the opportunity to participate in regional and international shabbatons and conventions, hosted by ECRUSY (Eastern Canada Region of United Synagogue Youth) and International USY. In the past, Ottawa has hosted ECRUSY’s Fall Convention, and had a record-breaking number of Ottawa participants!

Shabbat & Holiday Programming

Kehillateinu (Junior Congregation) runs every Shabbat morning in the Chapel, beginning at 10:00 AM. Each week, children in grade 1-8 participate in a kid’s prayer service, learn about the weekly Torah portion, play games, and enjoy a fun, kid-friendly snack before leading the concluding prayers in the main sanctuary.

We also run special holiday programming for all holidays. Our High Holy Day programming focuses on bringing the huge concepts of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur down to a kid-friendly level. We run special programming for kids in grades 1-2 and 3-5, led by our amazing teen Leaders. These programs include learning, praying, and games for a fun and meaningful service.

Children are also invited to full-day camp-style programs during Sukkot and Shavuot. The morning consists of learning and educational activities, the afternoon is full of games, outdoor activities, and shul-wide scavenger hunts!
