Rabbi Search Committee – Call for Subject Matter Experts
As we form our Rabbi Search Committee, we are seeking dedicated KBI members with a variety of professional and personal experiences to help guide this important process. We value diverse perspectives and are committed to forming a team that reflects the richness of our community. If you bring expertise or passion in any of the areas below, we would love to hear from you.
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of leadership within a Jewish context. This could include professional experience or significant volunteer leadership—such as serving on a board or chairing a committee. The ideal candidate will be someone who appreciates the responsibilities and nuances of leading a Jewish institution.
We seek someone with experience in community building and social organizing—someone who knows how to bring people together around shared values and goals. We’re especially interested in candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to welcoming new members and engaging young families in synagogue life.
We welcome candidates with a professional background in Jewish or general education. We also invite parents with firsthand experience in Jewish day schools or congregational schools who can share their perspectives and insights.
If you are involved in bikur cholim or other forms of volunteer care, your experience is invaluable. We are looking for someone who understands and can assess the pastoral capabilities of rabbinic candidates, particularly in supporting congregants through illness and life transitions.
We are looking for someone with communications expertise who can assist in crafting clear, compassionate, and timely internal updates throughout the search process. Experience in writing, messaging strategy, or community communications is especially helpful.
If you have a background in HR, interviewing, or hiring, your input will be key. We are seeking help in developing thoughtful interview questions and a fair, transparent evaluation rubric for candidates.
Are you an event planner—or just someone with energy, warmth, and great organizational skills? We’d love your help in coordinating meaningful, welcoming visits for our rabbinic candidates and their families. This includes planning for spouses and children so the entire family feels included.
A strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. If your personal or professional life involves advancing these values, we would love to benefit from your insights.
A deep love of halakhah and Jewish wisdom, and a commitment to Conservative Judaism and its ongoing evolution.
If any of these areas speak to your strengths or interests, please reach out by September 1—we would be honoured to have you join us. Arryn and Jon can be reached at: rabbisearch@kehillatbethisrael.com
