Rabbi Search

Dear KBI Family,

As your Rabbi Search Committee, we know that this is a time of both reflection and excitement for our community. Choosing a new rabbi is one of the most meaningful journeys a congregation can take, and we’re honoured to walk this path together with you.

Naturally, many of you have questions about the process, the timeline, and how you can be involved. This Frequently Asked Questions document is designed to keep you informed and provide clarity along the way. We want to be as transparent and inclusive as possible, and we hope this will be a helpful resource.

Please know that we will update it as new questions arise and as the search evolves. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out to us directly. Your voice matters, and we are listening.

Thank you for your continued support, trust, and partnership.

Warmly,

The Rabbi Search Committee

You can reach the Search Committee by email at: rabbisearch@kehillatbethisrael.com.

Arryn Ketter Mills and Jon Mitzmacher are the co-chairs of the Search Committee. They are joined by David Anzarouth, Bonnie Bowering, Marissa Figlarz, Stuart McCarthy, Kate McGregor, Jack Shinder, Jess Strauss, and Daniel Wolfish.

The role of the committee is to represent the congregation in the search for a suitable candidate for Rabbi. The committee is tasked with making a recommend to the Board, who will make the final decision.

We hope to have someone in place by July 1, recognizing that many factors come into play in a hiring process. July 1 is the date when rabbis looking to start a new contract will be expecting it to begin if we find a candidate within the normal cycle.
